project Vision
The beginning of this project rose from my passion for learning and helping others learn. Online tutoring provides both students and tutors the ability to teach or learn for anywhere in the world as long as they have an internet connection. The idea of a tutoring app came with the intent of providing an easy venue for both students and tutors to connect through an app. It seems fairly easy these days to find the help you are looking for when it comes to receiving tutoring services. At the same time, it is quite challenging to find someone you can connect with at a more personal level and that is the experience I wanted to focus on and improve.
TutorFinder is an easy access mobile application that internationally connects students and tutors more effectively to reinforce your learning experiences. I executed a human-centered design process throughout a 3-week period to create a design solution and that could improve students’ experience of finding a tutor.

REsearch questions
I
In this project a user centred design approach that proved to be quite effective in the design efforts. Qualitative research methods were the most useful, consisting of user research, user interviews and affinity diagram construction. The main initial questions asked were:
"What is the product and
who is it for?"
"What do our primary
users need most?"
"What challenges could
we face moving forward?"
"Who do we see as our
biggest competitors?"
Meet the users!
In the initial empathise step, personas, user stories and user journey maps were carried out. Here are the three main personas for parents looking for extra tutoring for their children, students independently seeking tutoring services for themselves and everybody wishing to offer their tutoring services in any subject.

CHALLENGES
Competitive audit was carried out for three direct and one indirect competitor. Simplicity of the interface, communication and cost were the main questioned features.

Design a simple user friendly interface.

Eliminate communication barriers.

Create platform with no hidden costs.

Insights
After completing usability study, some changes have been implemented to the design in order to fully meet user expectations to provide the best user experience.

Sign up steps have been simplified and divided into a step by step process instead of a long scroll down application
Check box to allow and ease recurring bookings with the tutor was added.

Calendar icon was added to the navigation menu to allow users to see all the upcoming appointments with tutors.
challenges
Design a simple user friendly interface for all users of all ages. Whether the user is a parent with limited time, a student or a tutor of any age the simple sign up steps will suit all.

Eliminating communication barriers by allowing parents and students to easily contact and communicate with tutors through personal chats. Easy access is provided through the a small chat icon on the top left corner of the tutor profile or through the chat icon in the navigation bar. This chat opportunity is allowed even before booking!

TutorFinder provides a platform that has no hidden costs. No membership fees are required. You pay only for the tutoring service you wish to receive.
